Role Overview
We are seeking a spiritually mature and experienced Associate Pastor – Children’s Ministry to lead and develop our children’s church. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing age-appropriate biblical teaching programmes, providing spiritual oversight, and nurturing the faith development of children within a multicultural, predominantly African context.
This role requires a strong understanding of Christian-African parenting values and cultural expressions, ensuring that ministry delivery is both biblically sound and culturally relevant.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Children’s Ministry in alignment with the church’s doctrine and vision
- Design and deliver age-specific, engaging, and biblically sound teaching for children
- Provide spiritual guidance and pastoral care to children and their families
- Develop discipleship pathways that support children’s spiritual, moral, and personal growth
- Train, mentor, and coordinate children’s ministry volunteers
- Work closely with parents, supporting them in raising children within Christian-African values
- Ensure all activities comply with safeguarding policies and procedures
- Support wider church programmes and pastoral activities as required
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree (minimum 2:2) in any discipline
- A mature and active Christian with a clear calling to children’s ministry.
- Active involvement within a recognised Christian church
- Evidence of theological training, ministry training or workers’ development training programme.
- At least five years of practical experience serving in Children’s Ministry, including a minimum of three years within a UK-based Children’s Ministry setting
- Experience teaching Scripture to children in engaging and age-appropriate ways.
- Experience leading prayer, Bible teaching and children’s worship activities.
- Experience supporting children’s spiritual growth and discipleship.
- Experience working collaboratively with parents and ministry volunteers.
Desirable Requirements
Preference may be given to candidates who have:
- Previous experience serving within Pentecostal Children’s Ministry.
- Experience ministering within multicultural church communities.
- Knowledge of child development, psychology, education or counselling.
- Previous experience coordinating volunteers.
- A willingness to continue theological and ministerial development.
- Appreciation of Christian-African family values within a multicultural church environment.
