Role Overview

We are seeking a committed and spiritually mature Associate Pastor – Choir Ministry to lead and coordinate the church’s choir and worship department. The role involves providing structured worship leadership, developing the choir ministry, and supporting safe and impactful public outreach events through music and worship.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping a vibrant, culturally relevant, and Spirit-led worship environment, particularly within an African gospel context.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate, and develop the church’s choir and worship ministry
• Provide structured and spiritually sound worship leadership during services and special programmes
• Organise and oversee choir rehearsals, training, and musical development
• Ensure worship aligns with the doctrine and spiritual direction of the church
• Promote and preserve African gospel worship expressions, including praise, chants, and hymns
• Support and organise safe, compliant public outreach events involving music and worship
• Mentor choir members, especially young people and children, in musical and spiritual growth
• Work collaboratively with pastoral and technical teams to ensure effective service delivery
• Maintain discipline, excellence, and unity within the choir department

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree (minimum 2:2) in any discipline
• A recognised Theology Certificate (mandatory)
• Demonstrable understanding of African gospel music and worship style
• Experience in choir leadership, worship ministry, or music coordination
• Strong vocal ability and/or musical competence
• Ability to work with children and young people, particularly within African cultural contexts
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Commitment to Christian ministry and alignment with the doctrine of Christ Apostolic Church

Desirable (Advantageous)

• Previous experience in a similar pastoral or worship leadership role
• Formal training in music, vocal coaching, or instrumental performance
• Experience organising church or community outreach programmes
• Experience working within multicultural or diaspora church settings
